EXIF viewer and remover

See exactly what a photo carries, then decide. Removal is lossless: metadata segments are deleted and the image data is never re-encoded.

    How to use it

    1. Upload a photo (JPEG works best; other formats rarely carry EXIF).
    2. The table lists what was found: device, capture time, exposure settings, orientation and whether GPS is present.
    3. If GPS is flagged in red, think carefully before sharing it.
    4. Click remove and download a JPEG with no metadata.
    5. File size and quality are unaffected because the image data is untouched.

    When this tool helps

A phone photo silently carries a lot: the model, a timestamp to the second, lens settings and — when location is enabled — the coordinates where it was taken. That travels with the file into group chats, forums and marketplace listings. Cases of someone locating a home address from an indoor photo are not urban legend. This tool shows you what is in the file first, then removes it in a lossless way: the metadata segments are deleted outright rather than re-saving the image, so there is no quality loss.

Make cleaning a habit before sending originals — especially when selling used items, listing a rental or posting pet photos, where an indoor shot with coordinates can expose an address.

    FAQ

    What does lossless mean here?

A JPEG is a series of segments: image data in one, metadata (EXIF, IPTC, comments) in others. Lossless removal deletes those metadata segments whole and keeps the image data byte-for-byte, so the picture cannot change.

Why does some photos show no EXIF?

Usually one of two reasons: it is a screenshot, which never carries capture data, or it passed through a social platform or messaging app that already stripped the metadata.

    What about PNG and WebP?

They normally carry no EXIF, so there is nothing to remove. Lossless cleaning here applies to JPEG, and the page says so clearly for other formats.

Is the photo still usable afterwards?

Yes. Only descriptive data is removed; the image data is intact and opens in any viewer.

Does it alter my photo in any other way?

No image processing takes place. Compare the file size before and after — it only ever shrinks, by exactly the size of the metadata.

    Is the photo uploaded?

No. Parsing and removal both happen in your browser.
